Bullies In Need (BIN) is a rescue dedicated to the "pit bull type" dogs in Ontario who face euthanasia daily in Ontario''s shelters. Bullies In Need is aware of the general public perception of pit bulls and holds the restoration of the reputation of the breed in the highest priority. Our available dogs for adoption come from a selection of only the best representatives of the breed temperament standards. We look for ambassadors which reflect the expected pit bull enthusiasm and loyalty towards all humans. Bullies In Need understands that this selection requires extensive knowledge of the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and as such our members continuously maintain awareness of the history of these breeds and their relatives, breed temperament standards and behaviors. Beyond this Bullies In Need aims to educate the public about these breeds, their history and their temperament. Bullies In Need seeks out foster and adoptive homes which are able to facilitate exceptional care and training.

THANK YOU IS NEVER ENOUGH!

We are ever grateful to our supporters. Nutrience, from Hagen, has offered to supply us with food for our dogs! We also need to thank Critter Jungle for this as well! Critter Jungle and Nutrience continue to be at the top of the list for caring about the animals that are left behind in shelters. Hats off and lots of doggy wags and kisses to you both.

On another note, we must thank the wonderful Homes and Land of Ottawa-Carleton for their generous donation in helping the dogs that just need a chance to shine! This is a great company that cares about family, and their families include the sweet loving animal companions. Thank you!

Foster homes are needed!

We currently have several dogs sitting on death row with their only chance at a full life is through rescue. The trouble is... we have no foster spots left. We currently have a hold on several young adults and several pups. There is only so much we can do, but if you want to make a difference for one of these dogs, consider applying to be a foster home in our rewarding foster program!

The Work Continues...

Sadly, there are many dogs in our shelters that are in desperate need of assistance. Many healthy, beautiful dogs will lose their lives due to Bill 132. This includes non-bully breeds as well, due to misidentification. In 2006 we took in a litter of 7 pups that turned out to be hound-whippet mixes. They were slated to be euthanized at the young age of 7 weeks. Heartbreakingly, this is the reality of any bully pup, or those identified as bullies born in Ontario after November 2005. We cannot save all death row dogs, but we will save as many as possible with the help of our friends across North America.

Bullies In Need works primarily with shelters pulling beautiful and deserving dogs off of death row.

What is it we do, you ask?

Bullies In Need works primarily with animal shelters pulling beautiful and deserving dogs off of death row.   We look for stable temperments, where the animal shows no aggression towards humans. This is why the majority of our dogs pulled are bullies; they're our deserving bullies in need.

We do not take in owner surrenders as we believe that the dogs in the shelters have no voice speaking for them. We are always willing to work with people that need help and/or advice.

BIN wants to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work and support. With all your help, we've saved countless innocent lives and will to continue to save many more. To protect our maligned breeds, we must all ensure that ALL adoptions through rescue are carried out meticulously and thoroughly. Our Bullies are bearing enough and we wouldn't want a rescue dog ending up back in the shelter and back on death row.

How you can help

Donations are the driving force behind this rescue. In order to find wonderful homes for the once-forgotten dogs to their new homes, we are going to need as much help as possible. Donations can be made using PayPal through our account bulliesinneed@gmail.com . If you would like to send a cheque, please contact us for an address.

Donations of crates are also needed. If you have one that you are no longer using, or would like to donate money specifically for this, please contact us.

Thank you for all of your help. All of the money donated will go directly to the dogs, and we will continue to take money from our own pockets to ensure the safety and care of these sweet animals.
